Sony has been saying for a time that they want the PS4 to take gamers back to a more simple kind of gaming. Knack brings back an old-fashioned platform brawler where you run around double-jumping and mashing buttons to punch goblins and robots until they flicker out of view. Almost completely linear and framed by a third-person camera. Knack is a series of fights that box you into small arenas until you eliminate all your enemies, at which point a barrier is removed so you can continue to different levels. These fights are broken up by platform sections where you dodge through traps. There are ice and lava levels also, levels with forests and different kinds of animals; Put simply, Imagine Adventure Island on Nintendo with today's graphic capabilities.
Knack for the ps4 is set up by a simple story about bad goblins attacking humans. Built out of prehistoric relics by an inventor everyone just calls the Doctor. Knack joins forces with the security robots of a rich industrialist called Viktor to repel the goblin threat. Accompanied by the Doctor's young assistant Lucas and his uncle Rydar, they all end up in a race to secure an ancient power. The result is a bit more advanced than what happens in the Mushroom Kingdom, but not entirely so. Knack seems fine for players wanting a bit of stress relief, however the main storyline and limited functions, make it a below average title for the more mature gamer. Fans of games like Crash Bandicoot might enjoy Knack more than other players.
